Within the ROMDIEM project, Rabbi Isak Asiel reflects on memory, education, and the responsibility to preserve histories of suffering. Drawing parallels between Jewish and Roma experiences of genocide and marginalization, he warns that remembrance without education and institutional recognition risks becoming empty or distorted.

“Remembering and rescuing something from oblivion are not the same.”

He calls for systematic education on the Roma Holocaust, Roma-led historical knowledge, visible memorial spaces, and collective responsibility in honoring Roma victims.
